State of montana business standards division board of realty regulation Form: What You Should Know

PORTLAND, Ore. — In response to a petition filed on behalf of more than 300 of the state's licensed real estate brokers, the Montana Board of Real Property Regulation is now requiring all licensed applicants and licensees to meet educational and experience requirements that have increased substantially. According to the Montana Board of Real Property Regulation, “Since October 2007, the minimum age for a license has been 21 years, up from 18. During this time, the average time between application and licensure has gone from 17 months to 28 months, with an average wait time of 21 months. The required education and experience will be consistent with the Board of Real Estate Standards. “ The Board of Real Property Regulation, in a press release issued today announces that it is requiring all prospective licensees to undergo education at accredited institutions, pass an exam and have experience or training “representing the ability to practice the profession.” The Minimum Education/Experience and Educational Examination standards for licensing has increased from 18 months to 28 months in 2024 and again to 28 months in 2008. According to Board of Real Estate Regulation, “In the most recent annual report for 2024 (see Appendix 1), licensed salespersons and salespersons-at-law had the highest annual compensation. The minimum annual income for licensed residential brokers was 100,000 and the minimum annual income for licensed nonresidential broker was 100,000. There have been two public hearings to review the above educational requirements as required by the Code of Laws of the State of Montana. The public has had two open houses, which took place from October to November 2007, and one more open house for the 2024 registration cycle. For the first time, there is a “guidance” form with the revised educational/experience requirements for licensees and applicants. “ The Board of Real Estate Regulation also stated that “All applicants are required to review and sign a “License Agreement,” in advance of completing the application process. This agreement will be mailed or e-mailed to the applicant prior to completion of the application.” The Board of Realty Regulation is the only agency within the State of Montana that regulates all real estate transactions. The state agency regulates all real property including, but not limited to, the sale, assignment, mortgage, rental, or financing of real property and the sale, assignment, or financing of real property.

Instructions and Help about State of montana business standards division board of realty regulation

Hi, I'm Cory Stapleton. Welcome to the Montana landlord webpage. I hope you'll look around and learn about the great things our trust lands do for public schools and our state. These lands are just as important in contributing to employment and our economy as they are in supporting public education. There are over five million acres of public trust lands in Montana, and the revenue from these lands offsets the local taxes our communities pay to fund K through 12 schools. As your Secretary of State, I'm entrusted to serve as a member of the Montana Land Board. It's here that we vote and approve important natural resource developments, like leasing rights for agriculture and grazing, forest management, minerals, and real estate management. If you'd like to learn more, I invite you to watch a live Land Board meeting from this website or come see for yourself how we can all work together to make positive use of these public lands for future generations.
